Yoga at Home

Practice yoga at home. You can still benefit from all that Yoga has to offer if you never even want to step one foot into a yoga studio. There are thousands of Yoga DVDs available and you can practice in the comfort of your own home.

This page will show some of my favorites. You don't need to take my recommendations ~ try some for yourself. But these are the ones that have inspired me and added many ideas into my class structures.

This Kali Ray Yoga DVD is a gently yoga practice . Kali's voice is soothing and stress relieving. Close your eyes and move into her suggested poses. You can break this practice up into sections or flow from one section to the next.

I like Eoin Finn because he is very down to earth and natural. Not that the other instructors aren't, but his style reflects his natural self. He provides students in the video who are at different levels so you can follow which ever one is comfortable for you.

This DVD is a power yoga practice, but suitable for beginners. If you don't feel comfortable in a pose, simply wait for the next one. That is part of the bhe beauty of practicing yoga at home. Be comfortable.

I love his descriptions of how poses should feel like, "ice cream being licked off your body" and "sweet like a Sade love song".

Shiva Rea offers a Yoga Flow similar to power yoga with a background in dance. She tends to flow with the music. It portrays a beautiful background and a workout that can be adjusted according to your time limits.

Byron Baptiste is a wonderful, inspiring power yoga instructor. He brings you into your own body and inspires you to try new movements, practice your own equanimity and safely push your self towards new challenges.

This particular workout is great for athletes of all kinds and those with a little yoga experience.

Bryan Kest is another one of my favorite power yoga DVDs. His teaching style is similar to Byron Baptiste but he offers his own style of motivation.

This particular collection offers 3 levels of practice and 3 separate workout DVDs.

If you want to practice your yoga at home ~ search for Yoga DVDs at your local library, rent them at your local video store, or you can buy them at amazon.com. Many times you can get free shipping if you spend $25. I usually buy a couple, get the free shipping and then I have options when they come in of which one to practice first.

Here is a convenient search box if you want to browse through Amazon.com and see what kind of yoga DVDs are available.
