This website is intended to be a resource of basic yoga information.
I am no guru, I am a certified yoga instructor trying to reach out to those of you who think you can't "do yoga" because you are not flexible, or that it is a religious cult, or we'll make you get into a pretzel position that you can't get out of.
These are all myths and I will show you with basic yoga information and pose descriptions that you can modify any pose to fit your body.
People practice yoga to lose weight, for stress relief, to gain flexibility, to enhance brain focus and improve breathing. Kids practice yoga as do older adults. Athletes practice yoga and so do pregnant women. There are varied practices for individual needs.
The benefits of yoga can be life changing or they can simply make you feel good. Whether you just need some stress relief or you are an elite athlete striving for better performance, there is a form of yoga that will enhance your life.
I do not believe we should force our bodies into yoga poses, I believe we should fit the pose to our bodies. We are all built differently. Yoga is meant to benefit not injure. You can adapt any pose to your body and get the benefit of the pose.
You can adapt a yoga practice into your life by modifying it to fit your needs. Whether you have 20 minutes or an hour to dedicate to it, you can still benefit from a yoga practice.
Basic yoga poses build strength and flexibility while improving posture and relieving stress.
Gentle yoga is a wonderful breath related stretching practice leading into a deep relaxation.
Power yoga is a heat building, muscle strengthening, flexibility practice to enhance overall fitness and/or athletic performance.
