Cat Cow Pose
Benefits:The breath connection in cat cow pose creates focus and brings awareness inside your body. This pose combination provides a stretch to the front side of the upper body while in cow pose and the back side of the upper body while in cat pose. The organs of the abdomen are massaged. The breath added to the movement improves the body and mind connection and brings focus inside the body. Get into your table pose (on hands and knees). Take care to place the palms under the shoulders and the knees under the hips. As you inhale, roll your head and tailbone up towards the sky allowing your belly to round towards the floor. As you exhale, roll your head down and tuck your tailbone in, arching your spine up towards the sky. When you roll in your exhale tuck your belly up towards your spine. Repeat with your movement connected to your breath several times. When finished bring the spine back to a neutral position before moving on. This pose releases tension in the spine. Precautions: People with carpal tunnel should use caution in this pose. People with back injuries should use caution in this pose. People with neck injuries should also use caution.
From cat cow pose drop the hips back and rest in child pose.
